From the dam to the tap

I mentioned last year how I do love to visit various work sites. Last week I was fortunate to go on an exclusive tour courtesy of Institute of Instrumentation, Control & Automation Aust Inc (IICA). We went through the Sydney Water Orchard Hills Water Filtration Plant. This is one of nine water filtration plants that supply fresh drinking water to homes and businesses in Sydney, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains.

Having been brought up in a country town that had bore water I’ve always loved the taste of Sydney Water.

Now having been shown the process of taking the water from the dam to the tap I appreciate all the work that goes into providing us with clear clean water we use for drinking, cooking, washing, growing food fighting fires, watering gardens and filling the swimming pool which we really needed this last summer
