New reform Package announced by the NSW Governement

A $1 billion reform package to deliver a fairer, more sustainable and more customer-centric workers compensation system has been announced by the NSW Government .

Two Bills have been introduced into Parliament to bring about structural reforms to the NSW workers compensation system: the Workers Compensation Amendment Bill 2015 and the State Insurance and Care Governance Bill 2015.

The reform package has three elements:

  1. enhanced benefits for injured workers
  2. premium reductions for employers with good safety and return to work records
  3. three discrete organisations to provide insurance and care services, regulate the State’s insurance schemes and regulate work health and safety. All existing agencies will be brought under the banner of one of these three agencies
