Statistics on Fatalities in the workplace
A total of 83 Australian workers have been killed while at work since the beginning of this year.
According to latest Safe Work Australia figures, as at 14 July 2015, the Transport, postal & warehousing workplaces had recorded the highest number of fatalities with 23 people killed at work.
A preliminary total of 4,405 fatal work injuries were recorded in the United States in 2013, according to results from the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) conducted by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
We know how our population is far less than America . In 2013 the Australian Bureau of Statistics recorded our population at 23,130,931.
Therefore our workplace fatality figure was at 0.85 deaths in every 100,000 people. In America, the workplace fatalities was 1.49 people in every 100,000 people (based on 2012 figures)
This is not a blog saying who is better but pointing out that in this day and age, with our education and understanding even one fatality is one too many!!
