North West Sydney Group meeting held 11 March 2020

North West Sydney Safety Group

We had another great turn out ( 21 people) who attended the North West Sydney Safety Group meeting held today, 11th March 2020. As usual, there was a lot of networking and sharing of experiences and one thing I (and a few others) found difficult  was not to shake hands!!

Carly Clifford Health & Safety Lead  Australia from Sibelco, spoke about the journey of their Enforceable Undertaking with the NSW Resources Regulator following an incident at one of their sites in 2016. One of their workers was seriously injured in a fall from an articulated dump truck.

Carly’s presentation described the incident, the learning from the investigation, the requirements of the Enforceable Undertaking and how Sibelco wanted to raise awareness of the risk of falls from mobile plant, and the challenges with mobile equipment access system compliance. It is rare that a company is able to share detailed information about such a serious incident but her case study was very interesting for all the group

Carly has provided her PowerPoint presentation to the group and a link to the video she hopes everyone will share  https://vimeo.com/392151216/94ae561e54

We are meeting next month on Wednesday April 15th and hearing from  Aneeza Qazi discussing “Meeting the Risk Criteria and Safety Challenges of Brownfield Sites”.
