ERGONOMICS

Ergonomics

Ergonomics seeks to enhance work performance and workers’ well-being by studying job tasks, equipment and the work environment.

An ergonomist’s knowledge of human capabilities and limitations helps them design work places and work practices that are both productive and minimise the risk of harm.

Ergonomists take both a macro and a micro view.

  • At the macro level they examine organisational design, facility design, job design, training, environment, work station, task design, equipment products.
  • At the micro level they examine work 'tools' e.g using an office chair or computer screen.

Both levels are important in establishing a safe and productive work place.
Safety Services Australia’s certified professional Ergonomists are highly skilled in analysing physical, perceptual, and cognitive demands of any job.
We can help you find ways to maximise employee comfort, safety, and overall productivity.
We can assess your workstations, work sites, plant and equipment, and recommend helpful ways to change worker duties or your work environment.

Our on-site analysis is used to develop reports detailing:

  • The effectiveness of work systems,
  • The adequacy of the work environment and
  • How well equipment and technologies are matched to human capabilities and limitations

Safety Services Australia offers the following ergonomic services:
