Occupational Health & Safety Management System

An Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSM) is a framework of processes and procedures used to control occupational health and safety risks as well as improve performance by means of continuous improvement.

Your current management system may be an informal system of registers, diaries, instructions, workbooks and your memory. This does makes in difficult for people to access, read and understand. Also what do you take to Court to provide due diligence if required?

The object of an OHS Management System is to produce a safe workplace, not to develop a set of documents that sit in a folder on the shelf.

It should therefore be understood that whilst the system provides a framework for managing health and safety, it is not until management and staff actually puts it into practice that people can see the reward for their effort.

Safety Services Australia can design an OHSM for your organization which will be aligned to the format used in Australian Standards:

· AS/NZS 4801:2001, Occupational health and safety management systems – Specification with guidance for use;

· AS/NZS 4360:1999, Risk Management;

· AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000, Quality management systems.
